Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position for a Rigger Level 3 based in Medina. The primary responsibility is to execute safe rigging and signaling for lifting operations involving cranes, hoists, and other heavy machinery, strictly following project plans and safety protocols. Daily duties include the thorough inspection of all rigging equipment, accurately calculating load weights and identifying the center of gravity, selecting the most suitable slings and lifting accessories, and setting up appropriate lifting configurations. The role requires the Rigger Level 3 to provide clear hand and radio signals to crane operators, coordinate effectively with site supervisors and lifting teams, and ensure all lifting activities comply with both company policies and regulatory safety requirements. Additionally, the Rigger Level 3 will assist in the development of lifting plans, maintain accurate rigging logs, report any identified hazards, and support the repositioning of equipment and general site upkeep to ensure a secure and efficient work environment.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in advanced rigging techniques, including precise load calculations, appropriate sling selection, and the safe application of lifting accessories for intricate lifts.
- Comprehensive understanding of crane operations, various signaling methods (both hand and radio), and effective coordination with crane operators and lifting supervisors.
- Proven track record in conducting pre-use inspections, performing regular maintenance checks, and ensuring the safe storage of rigging gear, slings, shackles, hooks, and associated equipment.
- Solid grasp of construction site safety standards, hazard identification, risk assessment methodologies, and adherence to regulations concerning lifting operations and working at heights.
- Capability to interpret lifting plans, basic technical drawings, and site directives, along with the ability to follow standardized procedures under demanding time and schedule pressures.
- Physical capacity to manage manual handling tasks, work at elevated positions or in confined spaces as needed, and correctly utilize personal protective equipment.
- Proficiency in communication to coordinate effectively with diverse, multicultural site teams, supervisors, and safety personnel in a clear and respectful manner.
- Possession of a relevant Level 3 rigging certification or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution; additional certifications in crane operation, lifting, or safety are considered advantageous.
- Prior experience as a Level 3 (or senior) rigger in construction, industrial, or infrastructure project settings, particularly within large-scale or complex environments.
