About the Role
Join Parsons Corporation in Doha as a Safety Inspector dedicated to overseeing construction safety on sewerage, surface, and groundwater network projects. You will play a vital role in maintaining safe conditions on site by conducting thorough inspections and enforcing safety protocols to protect all onsite personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular safety inspections to detect hazards and verify that construction activities, particularly those involving sewerage and water network work, comply with safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Ensure proper usage of safety gear, including personal protective equipment (PPE), by all workers and contractors through consistent monitoring.
- Identify unsafe work methods, especially in areas like trenching, excavation, and confined spaces, and propose corrective measures to minimize risks.
- Participate in safety audits, assess protocols, and confirm adherence to local, national, and international safety standards.
- Report unsafe conditions or behaviors promptly and facilitate immediate remedial actions in critical areas such as deep excavation and sewerage systems.
- Assist in accident investigations by documenting incidents, analyzing root causes, and recommending corrective and preventive solutions.
- Collaborate with site engineers and team members to communicate and enforce safety measures effectively throughout the project duration.
- Maintain comprehensive safety documentation, including inspection records, risk assessments, and safety reports, ensuring they are up to date.
- Support development and implementation of safety plans focusing on hazard reduction and emergency preparedness specific to sewerage and water network projects.
- Engage in safety training sessions to enhance workers' awareness of risks and safety measures, particularly for underground works.
- Regularly check safety signs to ensure visibility and understanding of site-specific hazards for workers and visitors.
- Work alongside regulatory bodies during site inspections and audits to guarantee compliance with established safety regulations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years of experience in construction safety inspection, including a minimum of 5 years focused on sewerage, surface, and groundwater network infrastructure projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of safety standards related to sewerage, drainage, excavation, trenching, confined spaces, and dewatering systems.
- Expertise in identifying hazards and unsafe practices in construction environments linked to water network projects.
- Proficient in conducting safety evaluations, documenting findings, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective reporting and hazard communication.
- Experience with safety equipment usage enforcement and emergency response protocols related to sewerage and water systems accidents.
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams on safety issues.
Preferred Skills and Certifications
- NEBOSH, OSHA, or other recognized health and safety certifications are advantageous.
- Familiarity with Gulf region safety legislation and standards concerning sewerage and water network construction.
- Experience in inspecting trenching, excavation, and dewatering tasks associated with water infrastructure.
- Knowledge of safety management software for tracking inspections, incidents, and compliance status.
- Understanding of environmental health and safety concerns pertinent to construction projects involving sewerage systems.
- Ability to provide onsite safety training for workers in hazardous activities like confined space entry and trench work.
- Proactive approach with meticulous attention to potential hazards and preventive measures.
- Strong skills in collaborating with contractors and subcontractors to uphold consistent safety standards.
