Join New Zealand's distinguished public media organization, committed to enriching Aotearoa and the Pacific by delivering insightful, challenging, and engaging content. RNZ is seeking an experienced Senior Security Engineer to manage the organization's security environment on a day-to-day basis.

Role Summary

As a Security Engineer at RNZ, you will lead the establishment and continual development of the security framework. Key responsibilities include:

• Leading security monitoring and incident response activities, collaborating with managed security service providers to quickly identify and mitigate threats.
• Keeping abreast of emerging cyber threats, evaluating risks faced by RNZ, and advising on security enhancements and mitigation tactics.
• Overseeing vulnerability management, device protection, compliance with policies, and safeguarding applications throughout the organization.
• Creating and updating SIEM detection mechanisms, automation procedures, and security measures covering identity, access, and data security.
• Maintaining comprehensive security documentation, policy frameworks, audit logs, and offering security guidance to IT teams and staff.

Candidate Profile

• Possess relevant IT or security qualifications, certifications, or equivalent practical experience.
• Have substantial experience in IT security, security engineering, or infrastructure roles with significant security duties.
• Demonstrate expert knowledge in security operations including identity management, endpoint and cloud security, vulnerability management, and security technologies such as SIEM, SOAR, and XDR.
• Strong familiarity with security frameworks, technical documentation, managed SOC/MDR services, and enterprise-wide security controls.
• Exhibit excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities effectively.
• Be self-driven, adaptable, dependable, eager to learn continuously, and collaborate effectively with colleagues and end users.
