Job Purpose

The Security Officer role involves safeguarding company facilities, personnel, visitors, and property by ensuring a secure environment. Responsibilities include routine patrols, overseeing access points, monitoring security systems, and promptly addressing incidents or emergencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols of designated areas to identify and deter suspicious activities.
• Control entry and exit of individuals, vehicles, and materials by monitoring entrances and verifying authorizations.
• Validate identification to permit access only to authorized personnel within restricted zones.
• Monitor CCTV and security alarms, timely reporting any breaches or irregularities.
• Manage incidents and emergencies calmly and professionally as they occur.
• Keep thorough daily logs, incident reports, and detailed handover notes.
• Immediately report theft, vandalism, trespassing, safety issues, and policy violations.
• Support emergency teams and comply with internal safety procedures.
• Ensure secure locking of doors, windows, gates, and sensitive locations during and after shifts.
• Assist in loss prevention initiatives and maintain safety compliance across premises.

Qualifications and Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s or diploma preferred.
• Prior experience in security or related roles is desirable.
• Familiarity with security protocols, access control systems, and emergency responses.
• Effective communication and sharp observational capabilities.
• Ability to stay vigilant and respond responsibly under pressure.
• Physical fitness suitable for patrol duties.
• Basic computer literacy for documentation and reporting.
• Customer service aptitude and conflict resolution skills.
• Possession of a security guard license or certification is advantageous.
• Experience with CCTV and access control technologies preferred.
• Knowledge of fire safety and emergency procedures appreciated.

Working Conditions

• Shift work encompassing nights, weekends, and public holidays.
• Tasks may involve standing for long periods, patrolling, and emergency response.
• Assignment locations include indoor and outdoor settings and may span multiple sites.

Reporting Line

Reports to Security Supervisor, Security Manager, or Site Manager.
