As Senior Communications Manager, you will be instrumental in helping employees grasp and embrace Vector's strategic goals. Working collaboratively across the organization, you will translate complex priorities and change initiatives into clear and engaging internal messages that foster understanding and enthusiasm. You will work closely with leaders and teams to craft impactful communications and help employees connect with the company’s direction.

You will also contribute to the wider Communications and PR team, participate in media on-call rotations, handle media enquiries when assigned, and provide communications support during crises. This fixed-term, full-time position (one-year duration) offers the chance to make a visible impact during an important phase as Vector embeds a new strategy supporting Auckland's growth, electrification, and decarbonization efforts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver internal communications that clarify organizational strategy and change initiatives to employees.
• Collaborate with leaders and teams across Vector to shape and share key messages that build alignment and engagement.
• Support the broader Communications and PR team, including media on-call responsibilities and crisis communication management.
• Manage and evolve internal communication platforms to enhance employee connection with Vector’s strategic objectives.

Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and approximately six or more years’ experience in corporate communications, preferably in large, complex organizations.
• Demonstrated expertise in internal communications, particularly related to organisational strategy, change communication, employee engagement, and digital channels such as intranets.
• Ability to strategically understand and communicate the rationale behind initiatives, balance diverse stakeholder interests, and produce straightforward, accessible content.
• Strong interpersonal skills with confidence in building relationships at all organizational levels, influencing collaboratively without formal authority.
• Comprehensive communications skills including media relations and crisis communication, with the capacity to manage media enquiries on a rotating on-call schedule.
