Senior Telecom Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Telecom Engineer who will spearhead the design, engineering, and execution support for telecommunication systems across extensive industrial, infrastructure, energy, and utility projects. This role involves overseeing telecom engineering activities, ensuring multidisciplinary coordination, adhering to relevant standards, and delivering top-quality engineering solutions throughout the FEED and Detailed Design phases.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the telecom engineering and design efforts for industrial and infrastructure projects.
• Prepare and review detailed telecom deliverables such as System Architecture Diagrams, Equipment Specifications, Fiber Optic Network Designs, Structured Cabling Schemes, Layout Drawings, Network Topologies, Radio Communication Systems, PAGA systems, and CCTV/Video Surveillance designs.
• Ensure all designs comply with international codes, standards, and project specifications.
• Collaborate closely with teams from Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural, Instrumentation, IT, and HSE to enable integrated system designs.
• Review and sanction engineering contractor and vendor documentation including drawings, datasheets, technical submissions, and design calculations.
• Lead technical discussions involving clients, consultants, licensors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
• Take part in design reviews, hazard identification (HAZID), hazard and operability studies (HAZOP), constructability assessments, and value engineering workshops.
• Support procurement processes through bid evaluations, document reviews, and overseeing factory acceptance testing (FAT).
• Provide technical support during installation, testing, integration, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up stages.
• Diagnose telecom system problems during project execution and operational phases.
• Mentor and oversee the performance of telecom engineers and designers.
• Maintain project schedules, assure quality standards, and manage deliverables within the approved budgets.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical, Communication Engineering, or related engineering fields.
• A Master's degree is considered a plus.
• Over 10 years of relevant telecom engineering experience within sectors such as industrial, infrastructure, energy, oil & gas, petrochemicals, transportation, utilities, or power.
• 3 to 5 years in a senior-level telecom engineering capacity.
• Extensive experience with FEED and Detailed Design project stages.
• Strong understanding of industrial telecommunications and communication systems.
• Knowledge of international standards such as IEC, IEEE, ITU, TIA/EIA, NFPA, and related guidelines.
• Expertise in fiber optic communication, structured cabling, LAN/WAN and industrial networking, CCTV, access control, security, and PAGA systems.
• Familiarity with network architecture, communication protocols, and system integration methodologies.
• Awareness of cybersecurity aspects pertinent to industrial communication networks.
• Experience performing telecom system calculations, link budget analysis, and evaluating network performance.
• Proficient with engineering software including AutoCAD, Visio, and similar telecom/network design tools.
• Experience with both brownfield and greenfield projects preferred.
• Exposure to EPC contracting and PMC project execution environments is advantageous.
• Good understanding of construction support, integration, testing, commissioning, and site troubleshooting is preferred.
• Excellent communication, leadership, coordination, and stakeholder management abilities.
