Role Overview
We are looking for an independent and proactive Service Technician to join our service team in Singapore. You will be essential in ensuring the optimal functioning of our smart terminal devices throughout the city. This role uniquely blends elements of IT desktop support with hands-on electronics engineering. New employees will benefit from a structured mentorship program pairing them with an experienced team member to rapidly gain expertise in our hardware and deployment processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage terminal onboarding including configuring hardware, flashing firmware, and testing devices prior to deployment.
- Provide initial technical support by responding to terminal fault reports and troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Oversee deployment logistics such as coordinating deliveries, conducting onsite installations, and arranging terminal pickups.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on site, including RTC battery replacement, balance station upkeep, and network/signal verification.
- Assist in project deployments by updating tracking documentation, handling JIRA tickets, and scheduling service visits with clients such as schools.
- Perform minor hardware repairs including PCB component rework and soldering, and ensure safe transport of tools and equipment to job locations.
Qualifications and Skills
- Educational background with at least NITEC or Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or related technical fields.
- Preferably over one year of experience in roles such as Technical Support, Desktop Support, or Field Equipment Technician; fresh graduates with strong practical skills are also encouraged to apply.
- Technical proficiency with computer hardware, fundamental networking knowledge, and familiarity with mobile applications.
- Experience working within Windows and Linux operating systems and using remote desktop tools.
- Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts is advantageous.
- Physical and practical capabilities include holding a valid Class 3 driving license with clean driving history (preferred for site visits), ability to perform physical tasks, work at heights, and transport ladders and tools.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize urgent matters, perform well under pressure, and solve problems effectively.
- Effective written and oral communication skills in English.
- Flexibility to accommodate after-hours or weekend work on short notice when events or facilities require it.
