Company Overview
Finloch Joinery Manufacturers Ltd specialises in making high-performance timber windows and doors. The business is centred on durable, well-finished products that meet current expectations for quality and performance. Its work combines skilled workmanship with dependable production methods for customers who care about both appearance and function. The workplace is practical and hands-on, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, consistency, safety, and pride in the finished result.
Role Overview
We are looking for a full-time Sprayer to work on site in Hawick. In this role, you will prepare timber windows and doors for finishing by sanding, masking, and cleaning the surfaces. You will then mix and apply paints, stains, and other coatings using spray equipment, making sure the colour, coverage, and finish meet the required standard.
The job also includes checking finished items, completing touch-ups when needed, keeping spray booths and work areas clean and orderly, and carrying out routine checks and basic upkeep on spraying equipment. You will be expected to follow all health and safety procedures, including correct material handling and the use of PPE. Working closely with production and joinery teams to stay on schedule and maintain quality is an important part of the position.
Key Duties
- Prepare timber windows and doors for finishing by sanding, masking, and cleaning.
- Mix and apply paints, stains, and coatings with spray equipment.
- Achieve the correct colour match, coverage, and overall finish quality.
- Inspect completed work and complete any required touch-ups or corrections.
- Keep spray booths, tools, and workspaces clean, safe, and well organised.
- Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance on spraying tools.
- Work in line with health and safety requirements, including safe handling of materials and proper PPE use.
- Coordinate with production and joinery teams to meet workflow and quality targets.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have experience in spray painting or finishing, particularly with timber windows, doors, or similar joinery products. You should understand different paints, stains, and coatings, along with the correct methods for preparation, mixing, and application. A strong eye for detail is important, as the role requires spotting flaws and producing consistently high-quality results.
You should also be familiar with workshop health and safety practices, including ventilation, spray equipment safety, and PPE. The ability to follow instructions, read basic technical specifications, and work to production schedules is essential. Good manual dexterity, the stamina to stand and handle materials through the shift, and a reliable, punctual approach are also important. Experience in joinery, manufacturing, or woodworking is helpful, though not required.
