Role Overview
This position calls for a seasoned Community Affairs Manager who can take charge of stakeholder engagement, relations with landowners, community development work, and social performance activities linked to mining operations.
Location and Eligibility
The role is based in Central Province, Papua New Guinea. Candidates must be Papua New Guinea or Australian nationals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and sustain strong working relationships with landowners, community groups, government bodies, NGOs, and other local stakeholders.
- Manage community engagement activities, consultation sessions, and grievance handling from end to end.
- Assist with land access discussions and help address issues raised by communities.
- Drive community development projects such as education support, livelihood initiatives, and programs that encourage local business growth.
- Spot community-related risks early and help reduce them so operations can continue without disruption.
- Assist with government liaison work and ensure community obligations are being met.
- Guide Community Affairs team members and share regular updates and reports with management.
Requirements
- Background in community relations, stakeholder engagement, or social performance, ideally gained in mining, infrastructure, or a similar sector.
- Proven ability to lead teams and handle negotiation, communication, and conflict resolution effectively.
- Comfort working with complicated stakeholder networks in remote settings and culturally varied environments.
