Job Purpose

This role is focused on driving and accelerating forest clearance activities for transmission projects. The position ensures that all approvals are obtained in line with environmental laws and statutory obligations, while working closely with authorities and internal teams to reduce delays. It also involves managing records, arranging inspections, and resolving compliance-related issues so that project execution remains smooth and aligned with sustainability standards.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with forest departments, environmental bodies, and regulatory authorities to secure forest clearance approvals on time and keep project compliance on track.
  • Support land acquisition and forest diversion activities by handling proposals, addressing encroachment concerns, and ensuring compensatory afforestation commitments are met.
  • Align approval milestones with project timelines so that transmission work progresses without avoidable delays or environmental approval risks.
  • Ensure full adherence to statutory requirements, including the Forest Conservation Act, Wildlife Protection Act, and other applicable environmental regulations.

  • Maintain organized records of approvals, compliance certificates, and official correspondence to support reviews and audits.
  • Engage regularly with divisional forest officers, state nodal agencies, and environmental committees to speed up the approval process.
  • Resolve issues related to biodiversity, wildlife permissions, and afforestation responsibilities by working with relevant stakeholders.
  • Keep internal project teams informed about clearance progress and potential risks to help maintain execution schedules.
  • Identify and address legal, environmental, and land-related obstacles that may affect approval timelines or project delivery.
  • Work with legal, project, and land acquisition teams to close compliance gaps and handle site-level concerns effectively.
  • Use GIS tools, digital mapping, and progress dashboards to improve tracking and visibility of clearance status.
  • Apply data-driven methods to spot bottlenecks and suggest process improvements for faster clearance turnaround.
  • Guide and mentor field teams to strengthen execution capability and improve understanding of forest clearance requirements.
  • Conduct training on environmental regulations, clearance workflows, and sustainable project practices to build a stronger compliance culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, Ecology, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a closely related discipline.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in forest clearance, environmental compliance, or land acquisition, preferably in infrastructure or energy projects.
  • Strong understanding of forest clearance processes, statutory approvals, and environmental regulations.
  • Experience in documentation, reporting, and coordination with government authorities and regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and resolve compliance-related issues proactively.
  • Working knowledge of GIS-based monitoring, digital mapping, and project tracking tools.
