About the Internship
This internship opportunity is offered by Planys Technologies Private Limited, a startup incubated at IIT Madras specializing in submerged robotic inspection and survey technologies. The company focuses on the indigenous design and fabrication of submersible remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROV) and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV), complemented by integrated sensing and diagnostic capabilities. Their expertise includes marine robotics and combined inspection methodologies with subsequent analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of mechanical parts and finished goods in line with engineering drawings and established quality standards.
- Interpret engineering blueprints and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) accurately.
- Maintain up-to-date inventory records, Bills of Materials (BOM), and store documentation.
- Document inspection findings precisely and maintain quality assurance documentation.
- Collaborate with the production team to identify and implement process improvements.
- Utilize precise measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) for quality verification.
- Assist in analyzing defects and recommend measures to minimize quality-related issues.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including Quality, Production, and Design departments.
- Adhere strictly to workplace safety protocols at all times.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Fundamental understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles.
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T standards.
- Knowledge of Quality Control practices and methodologies.
- Basic competency in MS Office applications such as Excel and Word.
- Strong communication abilities and capability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Attention to detail along with a proactive attitude toward learning and development.
Educational Qualifications and Eligibility
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Diploma holders in Mechanical Engineering with at least one year of experience in Quality or Production roles, or
- Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering; fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
- Availability for a full-time, in-office internship starting between 17th July 2026 and 21st August 2026 for a six-month duration.
Compensation and Benefits
- Monthly stipend ranging between INR 12,000 and INR 15,000.
- Certificate of Internship completion upon successful conclusion.
- Complimentary snacks and beverages during working hours.
