Job Overview

FlySafair is seeking an Artificial Intelligence Engineer to design, develop, and implement AI-driven solutions to address business challenges and optimize operations. This role involves developing scalable, secure AI systems, integrating them with existing technological frameworks, and enhancing overall organizational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and deploy AI solutions and automation tools targeting business problem-solving and operational improvements.
• Maintain robustness and security of scalable AI systems.
• Seamlessly embed AI models into current enterprise applications and digital infrastructures.
• Partner with data engineering and analytical teams to gather, cleanse, and prepare data sets for AI model training.
• Ensure strict adherence to data quality, integrity, and governance protocols.
• Implement advanced feature engineering techniques to boost AI model accuracy and performance.
• Continuously tune, optimize, and retrain models to maintain effectiveness over time.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to AI deployment.
• Lead smaller projects or essential segments within larger initiatives.
• Coordinate with multiple stakeholders including technical units, business divisions, and vendors for smooth project execution.
• Conduct thorough testing, validation, and quality assurance before launching AI solutions.
• Keep comprehensive documentation, including technical specs and implementation details.
• Identify and explore opportunities to leverage AI for process improvements, workflow automation, and better decision-making.
• Stay updated with the latest AI technology, tools, and methodologies.
• Contribute to the company's AI strategic roadmap and digital transformation efforts.
• Translate business needs into technical AI solutions through collaborative teamwork.
• Communicate AI concepts and results effectively to stakeholders with varied technical backgrounds.
• Offer technical support and guidance to teams adopting AI technologies.
• Ensure all AI applications comply with internal governance, privacy, and ethical guidelines.
• Promote responsible and transparent AI practices.
• Maintain records for AI models, processes, and integrations.
• Support the creation and dissemination of knowledge regarding AI tools and applications internally.
• Develop training resources, user manuals, and documentation to facilitate AI system adoption and usage.
• Provide ongoing technical support to users to optimize AI solution effectiveness and responsible use.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent qualification (mandatory).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or an allied discipline (mandatory).
• Postgraduate qualifications are advantageous.
• 2 to 5 years of experience in software development and engineering (mandatory).
• Proven experience with AI solutions and automation technologies (mandatory).
• Familiarity with software development processes, large language models, API integration, and AI tools.
