Role Responsibilities
As an associate data science analyst, you will apply skills in data mining, pattern recognition, data analysis, visualization, reporting, and managing data sets. Your work will support various projects under close guidance from senior analysts or data scientists and may involve descriptive analytics, scripting data queries, engineering data pipelines, creating visualizations, and forecasting trends. You will extract insights from both structured and unstructured data to inform business problems using analytics. Basic proficiency with data science methodologies, understanding of data types and scientific challenges, and applying analytical procedures within project frameworks are expected. Additionally, you might modify scripts or software to enhance data handling and analysis, contribute to report writing, assist users in understanding data sets, and offer training and improvement suggestions. Collaboration with subject matter experts and clear communication of findings to non-technical stakeholders is essential.
Qualifications and Preferences
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant analytical field such as engineering, mathematics, computer science, statistics, physics, health science, or data science.
- Ability to develop predictive models applying advanced statistical, machine learning, or data mining techniques is desirable.
- Experience with problem-solving approaches, continuous improvement tools, and analytical methodologies like machine learning and modeling is required.
- Must remain updated on healthcare trends and enterprise developments.
- Strong interpersonal and time management skills with a dedication to analytical rigor and customer service.
- Preferred experience with SQL query writing and Python scripting, including libraries like pandas, NumPy, or scikit-learn.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, especially Google Cloud Platform, gained through education or projects.
- Knowledge of relational databases, data modeling, and quality assurance techniques.
- Experience handling healthcare data such as electronic health records, clinical research, or claims data is advantageous.
- Team collaboration on software or analytic projects using version control systems like Git is preferred.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to translate technical topics for various audiences.
- Strong curiosity with a commitment to continuous self-directed learning of new technologies and analytical techniques.
Additional Information
- This is a hybrid role requiring the employee to reside within approximately 100 miles of the Mayo Clinic campus in Jacksonville, FL with onsite expectations managed by the supervisor.
- Position classification is exempt.
- Annual compensation ranges from $78,270 to $117,312 depending on education, experience, and internal equity considerations.
- Eligible for benefits.
- Standard workweek is full time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, totaling 80 hours.
