Role Overview

We are looking for an Avionics Systems Integration Engineer to lead the assembly, verification, and operational readiness of avionics components for advanced unmanned aircraft and defense platforms. This hands-on position entails integrating flight-critical hardware, sensors, payloads, communications gear, and software into functional aircraft systems prepared for ground and in-flight testing. The engineer will manage technical execution throughout development, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and deployment, collaborating closely with multi-disciplinary engineering teams in a fast-paced iteration environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Combine avionics hardware, mission systems, sensors, communications, and flight control elements into unmanned aircraft.
• Conduct system bring-up, troubleshoot issues, validate hardware and software integration.
• Support hardware-in-the-loop, ground, and flight tests through execution, data gathering, and analysis.
• Resolve problems in hardware, software, networking, and integration across complex aerospace systems.
• Configure and manage Linux-based systems, embedded devices, mission computers, and network infrastructure.
• Integrate aircraft electrical systems including wiring checks, power distribution, and interface troubleshooting.
• Develop and carry out integration procedures, testing plans, and verification steps.
• Collaborate with electrical, software, autonomy, and flight test engineers to solve system-level challenges.
• Utilize lab instruments like oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, power supplies, and network analyzers for testing and validation.
• Assist with field tests, aircraft deployments, and customer demonstrations as needed.
• Prepare detailed technical documents including integration protocols, test summaries, and troubleshooting manuals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Systems, Computer Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.
• Minimum of five years experience in avionics integration, aerospace systems engineering, flight test, or similar fields.
• Deep knowledge of aircraft electrical systems, avionics design, and integration workflows.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot hardware, electrical, networking, and software issues in multifaceted systems.
• Expertise using Linux command line tools for configuration, diagnostics, log analysis, and network troubleshooting.
• Understanding of IP networking, including Ethernet, TCP/IP, routing, VLANs, firewalls, and related troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with avionics protocols such as CAN, MAVLink, ARINC-429, RS-232/422/485, Ethernet, and MIL-STD-1553.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, interface documents, and system architecture layouts.
• Experience operating lab test equipment and performing structured integration testing.
• Strong diagnostic mindset capable of isolating issues across hardware, software, networking, and avionics domains.

Preferred Experience

• Background with unmanned aircraft systems, autonomous systems, defense projects, or military aviation.
• Knowledge of PX4, ArduPilot, embedded Linux, or mission computer architectures.
• Experience with EO/IR payloads, radios, datalinks, SATCOM, or tactical communication systems.
• Familiarity assisting flight test and aircraft deployment activities.
• Awareness of aerospace standards like MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, DO-178C, DO-254.
• Hold or eligibility for an active Secret security clearance.

Legal Compliance

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, Green Card holders, or otherwise qualified to obtain necessary export authorizations under U.S. Department of State regulations to comply with ITAR laws.
