Role Overview
The 107 Command Pilot acts as the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) for the Columbia Model 107 Chinook helicopter. This position supports both domestic and international flight missions, emphasizing safe, efficient, and regulation-compliant operations. Duties include guiding flight crews, supporting project objectives, and upholding superior professionalism and customer service standards. Assignments can involve deployments across the U.S. and overseas in challenging operational settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Pilot aircraft as PIC, adhering strictly to safety protocols, efficiency, and applicable regulations and company policies.
- Employ astute Aeronautical Decision-Making, risk management, and maintain heightened situational awareness throughout flight activities.
- Lead and coordinate all facets of flight operations and personnel management within assigned responsibilities.
- Uphold exemplary standards of safety, professionalism, and operational quality.
- Serve as an ambassador for Columbia Helicopters with clients, partners, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.
- Identify, communicate, and take proactive measures to mitigate operational hazards and safety concerns.
- Contribute to ongoing safety, efficiency, and productivity improvements within operations.
- Collaborate closely with project teams to ensure mission success.
- Ensure timely and precise completion of all operational and administrative documentation.
- Assist in achieving operational goals and support on-site activities as required.
- Provide management and stakeholders with prompt updates on operations and project progress.
- Assume the role of Project Lead when the Site Manager is unavailable.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by senior flight operations leadership.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a Commercial Pilot Certificate or higher with a Rotorcraft-Helicopter rating.
- Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate or superior.
- Valid U.S. passport or equivalent for international travel capability.
- Minimum of 1,500 hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) in helicopter flight time.
- Experience operating heavy-lift helicopters.
- Background in aerial firefighting operations.
- Experience with long-line helicopter operations.
- Capacity to operate independently with minimal supervision.
- Capability to perform effectively in high-pressure and dynamic environments.
- Strong leadership, supervisory, and effective crew coordination skills.
- Willingness and ability to work in remote, austere, and potentially hazardous environments for extended durations.
