Role overview
Boots is seeking a Dispenser to join one of its store-based pharmacy teams in the UK. In this position, you will support the pharmacist and wider healthcare colleagues in delivering pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently. The role is centred in store and involves working directly with patients, helping them understand and manage their medicines and health needs.
The hourly pay for this position is £13.92, with pay rising to £16.64 in selected London locations.
This is not a remote role. Applications from people outside the UK will only move forward where relevant UK qualifications and proof of UK right to work can be confirmed. The role is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship.
What you will do
- Carry out prescription dispensing tasks while making sure medicines are supplied safely, including ordering items, labelling, endorsing, dispensing, and arranging prescription collection.
- Work alongside healthcare professionals in store to support the running and delivery of pharmacy services.
- Offer patient care and medicines advice, and direct more complex questions to the pharmacist when needed.
- Follow standard operating procedures to keep dispensing safe, legal, and consistent.
- Stay aware of new in-store innovations and follow operational procedures accurately.
- Help patients manage repeat prescriptions in a way that improves adherence and reduces medicine waste.
- Use evolving store technologies and newer systems that improve the dispensing process, strengthen patient safety, and create more time for patient interaction.
What is expected from you
- You should have completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification at NVQ2 level, or an equivalent qualification, or be working toward it and have completed the first year of an MPharm degree.
- You must have a current, valid right to work in the UK.
- Experience in a community pharmacy setting is desirable.
Training and development
You will receive regular updates and training to build your healthcare knowledge. There are also career development opportunities, including the chance to train as a Pharmacy Technician or progress into a store leadership role.

- Staff discount
- Enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption leave pay, plus a gift card for colleagues expecting or adopting a child
