Role Summary
The Financial Analyst plays a crucial role in financial planning and analysis across SpaceX's diverse product lines. This position involves forecasting, reporting, and accountability for project finances, intersecting with various departments such as production, sales, engineering, and executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop forecasts for key performance metrics including expenses, staffing, capital expenditures, and operating costs within assigned business units.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to project future unit costs and monitor cost reduction progress.
- Execute ad hoc financial analyses supporting decision-making from ideation to deployment stages.
- Lead internal projects coordinating with peer teams to translate business challenges into financial models and indicators.
- Maintain and update forecasts for capital expenditures and inventory cash flows.
- Support tracking of product costs and inventory-related metrics such as scrap rates and obsolescence.
- Enhance tools for monthly revenue and project cost monitoring.
- Offer insights on revenue and expense variations, alongside departmental financial reports for business stakeholders.
- Analyze financial data to support management reviews.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- At least one year of experience in accounting, finance, or a business-related function; internships are considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in business, finance, economics, or engineering.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, business statistics, and modeling of complex nonlinear systems.
- Experience in manufacturing or technology sectors.
- Knowledge of data reporting and visualization tools such as SQL, Power BI, and Tableau.
- Strong communication skills suitable for interactions with executive management.
- Skill in presenting analytical outcomes effectively in written and verbal formats across diverse teams.
- Capability to simplify complex analytical problems for broad audiences.
Additional Information
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when required.
- This role mandates full-time onsite presence at the Hawthorne, CA location; remote or hybrid arrangements are not accepted.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary ranges by level:
- Level 1: $85,000 to $115,000 annually.
- Level 2: $100,000 to $140,000 annually.
Actual salary is based on expertise, education, and experience. Beyond base pay, employees may receive stock incentives, bonuses, and discounted stock purchasing options. Additionally, comprehensive health benefits include medical, vision, and dental coverage, a 401(k) plan, disability and life insurance, paid parental leave, and various discounts.
Vacation entitlement includes 3 weeks of paid time off and at least 10 paid holidays annually. Paid sick leave accrual adheres to or exceeds statutory requirements.
