Job Overview
Based in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, this position requires overseeing proper functioning of machines and ensuring adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on the fabric processing shop floor. Accommodation is not provided by the company.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Monitor machine operation by conducting shop-floor rounds to verify critical technical parameters such as speed, temperature, steam flow, and batch alignment.
- Report any machine malfunctions promptly to electrical maintenance staff to avoid disruptions.
- Ensure workers comply with SOPs and maintain high production standards.
- Assess shift-wise production efficiency by comparing actual output against targets and record production and stoppage reports.
- Investigate defective fabric by analyzing production data and coordinating with relevant personnel to identify root causes.
- Conduct daily shift meetings to inform and train workers on fabric defect prevention and proper use of safety equipment.
- Support in performing finish trials to meet specific customer requirements.
- Manage workforce schedules, communicate production plans, and allocate machines effectively among operators.
- Maintain records of worker attendance, leave, and absenteeism.
- Coach workers on basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting to enhance productivity.
Work Environment and Challenges
The processing department operates 21 machines with an annual capacity of up to 10 million meters, processing approximately 7.35 million meters each year. Currently, due to under-utilization leading to operation only four days a week on the shop floor, workers are assigned cleaning and maintenance tasks on non-production days but are expected to work six days weekly. Supervisors play a critical role in task allocation across all days. A key focus is optimizing resource consumption, especially steam and water, which are the highest and second highest consumers in the plant, respectively. Ensuring cost efficiency while maintaining high quality and preventing machine breakdown under varying atmospheric conditions are major challenges.
Additional Information
Workers must adhere to safety protocols and use appropriate safety equipment during handling of hazardous processes.
