Position Overview

The Global Foundations Manager role, based in Nairobi, Kenya, involves diversifying WHH's funding portfolio and strengthening philanthropic partnerships globally. This full-time position with an initial two-year contract includes potential for extension. Employment terms depend on whether the candidate is recruited nationally or as an expatriate.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with country offices to identify and cultivate strategic foundation partnerships aligned with program priorities.
• Assist country teams in developing and managing foundation prospect pipelines and donor engagement strategies.
• Support the development of compelling partnership proposals by translating programmatic goals and impact evidence.
• Share best practices, market insights, and fundraising techniques across WHH country offices to enhance foundation engagement capacity.
• Manage select regional and local foundation relationships directly, coordinating closely worldwide for coherent donor management.
• Produce high-quality pitches, concept notes, proposals, and partnership documents in collaboration with technical and program teams.
• Support due diligence and risk assessment processes per WHH compliance and policy standards.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in International Relations, Nonprofit Management, Development Studies, Marketing, Communications, or related field preferred.
• Minimum five years' progressive experience in foundation fundraising or institutional philanthropy, ideally within international NGOs or global development contexts.
• Proven record securing six- and seven-figure foundation grants and managing long-term donor relationships.
• Strong analytical and strategic capabilities to convert complex programmatic data into persuasive funding propositions.
• Experience with donor management systems such as Salesforce or equivalents to maintain a structured partner pipeline.
• Superior interpersonal and networking skills across cultures and organizational levels.
• Capable of working independently, handling multiple projects efficiently in a dynamic environment.
• Adaptable to evolving philanthropic landscapes with a growing emphasis on data-driven approaches.
• Excellent written and spoken English; additional languages advantageous.
