Overview
Join Shannex Incorporated in Halifax, Nova Scotia, as a dedicated Housekeeper within the Arbourstone Enhanced Care team. We value individuals who embody compassion, honesty, professionalism, and safety, contributing to a supportive environment that enhances the lives of our senior residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness of common areas including lobbies, hallways, and stairwells through sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming.
- Clean and sanitize kitchens and bathrooms thoroughly.
- Collect and properly dispose of refuse from residents' rooms following established protocols.
- Document completion of routine housekeeping tasks and perform audits and inspections as required.
- Provide personal laundry services for residents upon request.
- Communicate supply requirements promptly to management and ensure efficient use of housekeeping materials and equipment.
- Keep housekeeping carts clean and stocked; inform supervisor when supplies are low.
- Promote and adhere to safety culture by identifying hazards, following safety procedures, wearing appropriate protective equipment, and supporting team safety education.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum one year of experience in commercial housekeeping and/or laundry services.
- Strong initiative and commitment to completing tasks in a friendly, client-focused, and efficient manner.
- Effective communication skills to interact politely and cooperatively with both internal and external customers.
- Knowledge of infection control and prevention practices.
- Competency in operating cleaning equipment such as auto scrubbers, floor buffers, and vacuum cleaners.
- Previous experience working with seniors or in senior living environments is an asset.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and safely handle chemical cleaning agents.
- Successful candidates must provide a clear criminal record check and, if applicable, a Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Completion of the "Dementia: Understanding the Journey" course is considered advantageous.
- Passion for working in healthcare and ensuring quality accommodations and care for seniors.
