Human Resources Operations Specialist

Role Overview

We are representing a top-tier freelance talent marketplace and workforce management platform that connects global enterprises with skilled professionals in technology, creative, and marketing fields. Following the rollout of its W2 employment services nationwide, the company seeks a dedicated HR Operations Manager to oversee its US-based employed workforce with end-to-end responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the W2 employment lifecycle, from onboarding and contract acceptance through benefits management, payroll processing, contract renewals, and offboarding.
• Ensure accurate and timely weekly payroll execution along with compliance adherence including I-9 verifications, state-level filings, benefits administration, and proper documentation for termination procedures.
• Serve as the US compliance authority, advising internal teams on worker classification, employment regulations across multiple states, leave policies, overtime rules, and final paycheck obligations.
• Support the company’s expansion into new states by managing registrations, workers' compensation, payroll processes, benefits set-up, and adherence to state-specific policies.

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven experience managing payroll and HR operations specifically for W2 workers in staffing, contingent workforce, or managed service provider settings.
• In-depth understanding of multi-state regulatory requirements and operational challenges related to employing workers across diverse US states.
• Practical expertise in handling complex employee relations issues confidently, including terminations and sensitive employment matters.
• A strong process-oriented approach with the ability to refine SOPs, coordinate multiple vendors, and leverage technology, including AI and automation, for enhanced efficiency.
