Role Overview and Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair air conditioning and temperature control systems ensuring optimal air quality.
• Perform repairs and upkeep of electrical and mechanical refrigeration equipment including freezers, refrigerators, ice makers, fan coil units, and chillers.
• Conduct preventive maintenance to enhance reliability and efficiency of HVAC and refrigeration systems throughout the hotel.
• Assess refrigeration system performance and check components for functionality.
• Inspect door closure systems on walk-in coolers and freezers to ensure proper sealing via gaskets and latches.
• Maintain defrosting and automation systems, particularly for ice makers.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from various hotel departments.
• Ensure regular cleaning of fan coil units and filters in air handling units.
• Monitor performance of air-conditioning and chilled water systems.
• Collaborate with engineering team to identify failures and optimize air conditioning and refrigeration system operations.
• Ensure strict adherence to environmental standards by controlling release of CFC gases.
• Conduct overhauls of air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment as required.
• Check refrigerant and oil levels, supervising major repairs as needed.
• Coordinate with Engineering Storekeeper regarding procurement of replacement parts.
• Perform all tasks in compliance with national technical and safety regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

• Completed formal training from a recognized technical or vocational institute in a relevant field.
• At least one year of practical experience working within a hotel engineering department.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Experience with VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) or VRV (Variable Refrigerant Volume) systems is advantageous.
