As a Judicial Case Manager I, you will manage judicial case flow by coordinating legal events, processes, resources, and documents to ensure cases move through the court system timely and effectively. This entry-level position requires you to learn and apply court procedures, manage case files, and interact with various stakeholders to support case resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate case filings to assign appropriate case tracks or refer to alternatives.
- Serve as a liaison among judicial officers, court users, legal partners, and the public to clarify processes and answer inquiries.
- Prepare and maintain accurate and comprehensive case files.
- Track case progress, identify bottlenecks, and take steps to expedite proceedings, including contacting participants to resolve delays.
- Research case information to ensure data accuracy, address complaints, and prepare legal documents.
- Coordinate case events with judges, attorneys, law enforcement, and litigants.
- Advise judicial officers on case events leading up to final disposition.
- Maintain communication with the legal community and agencies to facilitate smooth case flow.
- Attend court sessions to support administrative tasks such as annotating worksheets, processing sentence orders, swearing in witnesses, and managing evidence.
- Utilize automated systems to manage case records and generate reports.
- Oversee delivery of legal documents and correspondence.
- Potentially manage court calendars including scheduling and notification tasks.
Qualifications and Requirements
- At least six months’ experience handling cases through legal processes.
- Six months’ familiarity with applying relevant laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Six months’ experience using automated information systems for data entry and reporting.
- Proficiency in narrative report writing.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States is required.
- A satisfactory criminal background check must be completed as a condition of employment.
