Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated and inquisitive Software Engineer I to join our Experiences Engineering division. This junior full-stack role involves working with Java, SQL, React, AWS, and AI-powered development tools. Ideal candidates possess strong foundational knowledge and a passion for growing within a fast-moving, product-focused environment. Here, you will regularly deliver software impacting millions of travelers and learn to design solutions at scale.

Our working model prioritizes remote-first flexibility combined with occasional in-person meetings for collaboration, typically near hubs in London, Oxford, Krakow, or Lisbon. Candidates should reside within approximately 1.5 hours commuting distance of these offices.

Responsibilities

• Engage actively in the complete software development cycle, from design and implementation through testing and deployment, delivering code multiple times weekly.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and data teams to understand the rationale behind the products, beyond mere development.
• Utilize AI coding assistants for repetitive tasks such as generating boilerplate code, unit tests, and minor refactoring to accelerate learning and productivity.
• Create well-structured, readable code with an emphasis on comprehensive automated unit and integration tests.
• Participate in code reviews, seek and provide constructive feedback to enhance both technical and professional capabilities.

Qualifications & Skills

• 0 to 2 years of relevant experience, generally following a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related fields.
• Strong fundamentals in computer science, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
• Familiarity with full-stack web application development, competent in at least one current backend language such as Java, C#, Go, or Python, along with basic knowledge of relational databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Comfortable coding with AI coding tools such as Cursor, Codex, Claude, or Open Code.
• Demonstrated eagerness to learn new technologies and collaborate effectively on global, diverse teams.
• Excellent communication skills, able to clearly articulate logic and discuss challenges with team members.
• Exposure to AWS, React, or NoSQL databases is advantageous but not mandatory. Curiosity and creative problem-solving matter most.
• Open to working primarily in the Java ecosystem upon joining the team, though candidate’s interview language may vary.
