Role Overview
The Creative Producer at Universal Music Group's Island Records leads the creation and execution of original, social-first content that highlights artists, new releases, and cultural moments. This position entails full ownership of the creative process from initial concept development through to final delivery, including storyboarding, production planning, directing shoots, live content capture, and collaboration with post-production teams to craft engaging digital narratives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop original creative concepts, storyboards, and detailed production plans aligned with artist campaigns, releases, and marketing efforts.
- Produce and edit live social-first content capturing events such as performances, studio sessions, behind-the-scenes footage, interviews, and promotional activations.
- Manage the end-to-end production process, including pre-production organization, shoot direction, and creative execution oversight.
- Work closely with editing and creative teams to tailor content for various digital platforms while ensuring artistic consistency.
- Identify and leverage emerging social media trends and innovative storytelling formats to enhance artist visibility and fan engagement.
- Coordinate with Marketing, Digital, Creative, A&R, Artist Management, and external collaborators to integrate content strategies effectively.
- Create scalable content frameworks and franchises that reinforce artist branding and broaden audience reach.
- Balance immediate, reactive storytelling with long-term campaign objectives to maintain artists' relevance across platforms.
- Oversee production budgets, timelines, vendor relationships, and freelance resources to deliver projects punctually and within scope.
- Provide insightful creative direction and constructive feedback throughout the production phases to uphold excellence.
- Organize and archive production assets, footage, and deliverables to support ongoing and future campaigns.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Film, Media Production, Marketing, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 3 to 5 years of proven experience producing creative digital content, with a preference for those with a background in the music industry.
- Proficient in leading entire production cycles from ideation to final content delivery.
- Experience capturing and directing content across diverse, dynamic settings—live events, performances, studios, on-location shoots, and backstage environments.
- Familiarity with industry-standard production workflows including budgeting, pre-production, shoot management, post-production, and distribution.
- Strong creative intuition with an understanding of platform-specific storytelling, audience behaviors, and social media dynamics.
- Outstanding project management skills capable of juggling multiple projects and adjusting priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, enabling strong relationships with artists, managers, and internal teams.
- Preferred proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects) or comparable creative software.
- Experience collaborating with artists, content creators, influencers, or talent is advantageous.
- Flexibility to work outside traditional hours including evenings, weekends, and travel aligned with artist and event schedules.
