About the Role

As a member of Google's Trust & Safety team, you will play a pivotal role in protecting users and maintaining the integrity of Google’s products by preventing abuse across the messaging ecosystem. This position involves cross-functional collaboration with engineers and product managers globally to identify, analyze, and fight abuse and fraud at a large scale, ensuring a safer online environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate emerging abuse trends and perform intricate data analyses to discover new signals for scalable enforcement solutions.
  • Translate abuse protection needs into data modeling projects and develop prototypes to address them.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Product, and Program Management to formulate detailed requirement documents rooted in thorough data analysis and product knowledge.
  • Engage in proactive threat monitoring, spot gaps in abuse detection, and continuously refresh abuse rules based on evolving patterns to mitigate risks.
  • Lead initiatives to prevent misuse of Google's infrastructure that could result in user harm or financial fraud, collaborating with carriers and ecosystem partners for remediation and investigations.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least five years of experience in data analysis, including trend identification, summary statistics generation, and deriving insights from quantitative and qualitative datasets.
  • Five years of experience managing projects, including defining scope, goals, and deliverables.

Preferred:

  • Eight or more years in signal development, data analysis, cybersecurity, or anti-abuse.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python or Golang.
  • Experience handling complex engineering systems and processes.
  • Background in fraud and abuse investigations, fraud risk management, security, and threat analysis related to internet, telephone, or communication products.
  • Knowledge of messaging protocols and fraud types including SMS, MMS, RCS, SIM, and phone number fraud.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively share insights with diverse teams, influencing at multiple organizational levels.
