Payment Posting and Reconciliation Manager

Overview

This contract position offers an opportunity to leverage comprehensive revenue cycle expertise to assess and influence automation platforms aimed at optimizing electronic remittance advice (ERA) processing, payment posting, and cash reconciliation workflows. Your insights will help enhance the accuracy and dependability of future remittance processing technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage complete cash posting activities involving ERA/835 electronic remittance processing, manual Explanation of Benefits (EOB) posting, and lockbox reconciliation across various payers and payment forms
• Review large language model (LLM) generated payment posting results, ERA matching suggestions, and reconciliation summaries, providing organized annotations and feedback to aid model training data enhancement
• Match posted payments against bank deposits, lockbox documentation, and payer remittances, addressing posting inaccuracies, payment misapplications, and unapplied cash balances
• Track vital cash posting performance indicators such as accuracy percentages, posting timeframes, unapplied cash amounts, and reconciliation inconsistencies to ensure smooth operations
• Collaborate closely with billing, accounts receivable, and finance departments to clarify payment irregularities and support prompt cash closing
• Maintain adherence to cash handling protocols in line with internal policies, HIPAA regulations, and auditing standards

Requirements

• Proven leadership experience in cash posting, payment reconciliation, or revenue cycle management roles
• In-depth understanding of ERA/835 remittance processing, explanation of benefits, and remittance adjustment reasons
• Track record of efficiently managing large-scale payment posting tasks across multi-payer systems with precision
• Practical experience with billing and payment software such as Epic, Athenahealth, or similar platforms
• Strong command of written and spoken English capable of delivering detailed and well-structured feedback
• High analytical skills to detect discrepancies and errors in outputs produced through automation

Additional Qualifications

• Certifications like CRCR, CPC, or CHFP or equivalent credentials in revenue cycle management
• Experience developing standard operating procedures and control systems for cash posting in hospital or physician group environments
• Familiarity with automated ERA posting tools or robotic process automation (RPA) cash posting technologies

Compensation and Work Schedule

The role offers a pay rate of $85 per hour with flexible working hours, fully remote.
