Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our team in Auckland, New Zealand. This role involves owning critical reliability and infrastructure challenges across software, cloud environments, and engineering practices. The ideal candidate is not only adept at maintaining systems but also focuses on enhancing software design, eliminating recurring operational issues, building developer tools, and improving system observability and security.
Key Responsibilities
You will manage complex reliability issues across system boundaries, promote durable improvements, and influence architectural decisions. Work includes diagnosing cross-domain production problems, automating manual processes, enhancing operational visibility, reviewing operability and architecture, and collaborating with multiple teams to build resilient and maintainable systems. Additionally, mentoring peers and aiding technical hiring are essential parts of the role. Participation in on-call rotations is required, focusing on proactive system improvements rather than reactive maintenance.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for individuals with robust experience in site reliability, systems, or software engineering, preferably with cloud or multi-user product backgrounds. Candidates should demonstrate skill in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation), programming languages (Python, Go, Rust, JavaScript, .NET), CLI environments (Bash, PowerShell), databases, protocols (HTTP, SSL/TLS, REST, GraphQL), version control (Git), and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
Strong communication skills, ability to manage priorities independently, and capability to align technical work with business impacts are vital.
