About the role
This role sits within ASB’s Host platform team in Albany, Auckland, supporting the mainframe and batch scheduling environment. You will contribute to solution design and strategic technical work across Host and Control-M scheduling, with an emphasis on simplifying systems, strengthening security, and improving speed of delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Provide ongoing application support and maintenance for the Control-M platform.
- Assist with development and day-to-day administration tasks related to the environment.
- Handle OS administration work across Windows and/or Linux systems.
- Configure and manage SSL certificates, including use of Java keytool.
- Carry out Control-M Agent installations and related setup activities.
- Write and maintain Unisys Workflow Language (WFL) scripts.
- Apply strong DevSecOps thinking in technical operations and delivery.
- Support troubleshooting, technical analysis, and requirements gathering for platform work.
Candidate profile
The ideal consultant has deep experience in Unisys mainframe batch scheduling and practical knowledge of Control-M maintenance and support. The role suits someone who is technically strong, comfortable working across infrastructure and scheduling tools, and able to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What you will bring
- At least 10 years of Unisys mainframe experience.
- Hands-on experience maintaining and supporting Control-M applications.
- Practical experience installing Control-M Agents.
- Ability to build a Control-M instance from the ground up on Windows or Linux.
- Windows or Linux OS administration certification, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience working with DevOps tools and methods, ideally Azure DevOps.
- Strong analytical capability for technical investigation and requirements work.
- Clear technical writing skills for documentation and design specifications.
- Strong communication and troubleshooting ability.
Bonus experience
- Background in banking, payments, lending, or open banking systems.
- COBOL development or maintenance experience.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps principles.
