Overview
TAFE NSW seeks a dedicated Technical Assistant to join their Wollongong campus team, playing a vital role in supporting delivery of educational programs focused on painting and decorating, including signage. This permanent, full-time position entails 35 hours per week over 43 weeks each year, offering a total remuneration package ranging from $80,502 to $88,860. This package includes a base salary between $70,926 and $78,289, plus employer superannuation contributions and annual leave loading.
Role Responsibilities
- Assist in class preparation and workshop organization, ensuring classrooms and workshops are ready for sessions.
- Manage and monitor supplies and stock levels; coordinate orders to maintain necessary resources for teaching activities.
- Produce, maintain, and service teaching aids and equipment to support instruction.
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on workshop tools and machinery to ensure safety and functionality.
- Prepare class materials by accurately cutting them to size with appropriate power tools and equipment.
- Operate, maintain, and service signage equipment to guarantee its effective performance.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in workshop areas, adhering to Work Health and Safety policies.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Possess a relevant trade qualification such as Certificate III in Signs & Graphics or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong practical skills and hands-on capability within a workshop environment, particularly in painting, decorating, and signage.
- Proficiency with IT applications used in signage, including Microsoft Office.
- Solid mechanical knowledge and experience in using tools and machinery confidently to support staff and students.
- Highly organized, safety-conscious, and committed to maintaining a clean, efficient workspace.
- Reliable team player who supports excellence in vocational education.
