Job Purpose

This role is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the receipt, storage, and dispatch of products so operations support the company’s business objectives. The position also steps in for the Distribution Centre Manager whenever needed.

Key Accountabilities

  • Plan and use manpower effectively on a daily basis, and oversee floor and delivery activities to improve productivity.
  • Organize the offloading of incoming trucks each day to make the best use of staff time.
  • Build and manage delivery routing and scheduling so delivery lead times are met and fleet usage is optimized.
  • Create pick slips and share them with the picking team to keep deliveries moving on schedule.
  • Maintain stock accuracy by confirming that quantities received or loaded match order quantities, and support weekly cycle counts and reconciliations to keep inventory records accurate.
  • Check returned trade goods for correct quantity and quality against the paperwork to prevent customer issues and stock variances.
  • Make sure customer-signed invoices are returned to the warehouse on the same day as delivery as proof of delivery.
  • Oversee the quality of incoming and outgoing products and ensure loading and offloading methods do not cause damage or unnecessary trade returns.

Skills, Experience & Qualification

  • Graduate in B.Com or a comparable qualification/experience profile.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience in logistics and supply chain operations.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance practices and how to apply them.
  • Clear communication skills, a strong sense of initiative, a hardworking attitude, ownership, loyalty, and leadership ability.
