Role Summary

We are looking for a Designer I who combines innovative thinking, high quality standards, and enthusiasm for residential architecture. This person will work closely with principals and the team to contribute significantly to the exceptional design quality we stand for.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in developing project designs, including initial concepts, construction drawings, and presentation materials
• Work collaboratively with the Principal-in-charge, Project Leader, and team to define design goals, shape the project vision, and support the design process
• Incorporate client feedback, maintaining structural integrity and compliance with building codes
• Prepare detailed working drawings for private homes and document existing conditions through site measurements
• Develop growing skills in wood frame construction techniques and structural requirements
• Support creation of project design criteria, scheduling, and timeline management
• Revise CAD drawings such as plans, elevations, and sections according to markups and client input
• Produce architectural models manually and with 3D CAD software
• Participate in client meetings and perform site visits/construction observations as needed

Candidate Qualifications

• Between 1 and 5 years of solid residential architecture design and technical development experience
• Comprehensive knowledge of all architectural design development phases
• Holds a degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) from a recognized institution
• Passion for residential architectural design, aiming to specialize in this area
• Experience preparing construction documents and ensuring building code compliance
• Advanced design and graphic presentation abilities with proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office
• Competence in creating both physical and digital 3D models
• Excellent multitasking skills, strong attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
• Availability to work from the Vineyard Haven, MA (Martha's Vineyard) studio

Salary placement within the stated range depends on experience and qualifications, with most new employees starting in the lower to middle portions, alongside prospects for salary progression as they advance in the company.
