Architectural Lighting Designer

Job Overview

We are looking for a talented and imaginative Lighting Designer to join our team. This role involves crafting innovative architectural lighting concepts across diverse projects while adhering to industry standards, promoting energy efficiency, and satisfying client requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Design architectural lighting solutions for indoor and outdoor environments, covering facades, interiors, landscapes, streets, and parking zones.
• Develop lighting concepts, layouts, calculations, and comprehensive documentation.
• Create compelling visual presentations such as renderings, visualizations, and concept boards that clearly convey design intentions.
• Use specialized software including DIALux, Photoshop, and V-Ray to generate accurate lighting simulations and visuals.
• Contribute to GSAS sustainability reports and ensure all designs meet eco-friendly standards.
• Review lighting technical specs to confirm they align with project requirements.
• Evaluate manufacturers’ shop drawings and fixture details.
• Ensure material and finish selections are consistent with design criteria and project guidelines.
• Coordinate with consultants, clients, and other stakeholders to secure design approvals.
• Manage material submittals and obtain timely approvals for lighting fixtures.
• Ensure compliance with local and international lighting standards, including IES, CIBSE, and regulatory authorities.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a related discipline.
• 5 to 8 years of practical experience in architectural lighting design.
• Deep knowledge of lighting systems, fixtures, and related technology.
• Expertise with DIALux, Photoshop, and V-Ray software tools.
• Familiarity with lighting codes and energy efficiency standards such as IES and CIBSE.
• Strong skills in visualization and delivering presentations.
• Attention to detail with the ability to scrutinize technical documentation.
• Effective communication and collaboration with project teams and consultants.
• Capability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with sustainable design certifications like GSAS.
• Knowledge of BIM and other design software is a plus.
