Overview
We seek an Assistant Project Manager to support mission-critical data center facility projects in Northern Virginia, encompassing locations such as Ashburn, Manassas, and Sterling. This role aids the Project Manager through the entire project lifecycle, from initial planning to commissioning and handover, focusing on ensuring projects are completed safely, within scope, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and executing data center construction and retrofit projects from pre-construction stages to final handover.
- Support the development and upkeep of project schedules, budgets, and risk management logs.
- Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and controls teams on critical infrastructure systems including UPS, generators, cooling, and switchgear equipment.
- Monitor subcontractor activities, including handling requests for information (RFIs), submittals, and change orders.
- Help ensure compliance with local Virginia jurisdiction codes, utility coordination, and safety requirements.
- Prepare and present project status reports to Project Managers and other stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including meeting minutes and follow-up action items.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Preferred: At least 1 year of experience in project coordination, project management, or construction; candidates with excellent organizational skills and enthusiasm to learn are welcome.
- Basic knowledge or familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems in commercial or industrial settings is advantageous.
- Experience or willingness to learn project scheduling software tools such as Procore or Microsoft Project.
- PMP certification or an interest in obtaining it is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related fields preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
- Must be able to work on-site in Northern Virginia.
