About the Role

HEPCO, Inc. is looking for an Assistant Project Manager to assist with field operations throughout the design, construction, and project close-out stages for engineering and construction initiatives. The role focuses on supporting project management tasks, overseeing contractor activities, assisting with inspections, and ensuring adherence to contract, quality, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site support particularly related to work by third-party contractors during construction and design phases.
  • Offer project management assistance during the design stage by overseeing design consultants performing station condition surveys.
  • Ensure all work meets the requirements specified in contract documents.
  • Complete necessary contract-related documentation accurately and timely.
  • Support inspections and quality control/assurance for supplying and installing materials and equipment through project completion.
  • Assist in inspecting communications construction projects by tracking and coordinating multiple activities, working independently under general supervision.
  • Collaborate with the Resident Engineer to achieve project objectives and assist Project Management and Construction Management teams.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings, prepare meeting minutes, and track follow-up actions.
  • Oversee safety compliance among all personnel, contractors, and subcontractors according to contract safety requirements.
  • Prepare daily reports, quality and safety checklists, field condition surveys, sketches, scopes for change orders, estimates, and other reporting as necessary.
  • Coordinate and submit requests for project support services, such as flagging, access, and protection.
  • Contribute to managing project budgets, schedules, and construction activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business or an Associate degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of four years of full-time project management experience involving planning, managing, coordinating, or expediting engineering or supervising large construction projects valued at $20 million or more.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience or one year functioning as a Project Manager on large and complex construction projects.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification and 8-Hour Lead Awareness Course completion required.
  • Must complete mandatory track safety training before participation in capital program projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret contract drawings and specifications; knowledge of applicable codes and standards is desirable.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel; experience with CADD is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing project information, report preparation, and effective communication with contractors and department staff.
  • Familiarity with capital construction procedures, field operations, scheduling, estimating, and preferred experience with mass transit operations and facilities.
  • Capability to coordinate efficiently with operations and engineering teams.

Compensation

The hourly pay rate ranges from $45 to $50 depending on experience and qualifications.
