About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and commercially minded Base Oil Trader to lead and expand our trading operations in base oils across both regional and international markets. This role requires deep market insight, a solid network of suppliers and buyers, and demonstrated expertise in sourcing, trading, and marketing various base oils and petroleum-related products.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow base oil trading activities regionally and globally.
- Source and promote base oil products such as Group I, II, III, and other lubricant raw materials.
- Establish and nurture connections with refineries, producers, traders, blenders, distributors, importers, and end customers.
- Find profitable trading opportunities by negotiating contracts to maximize trading margins.
- Track market trends, including pricing, supply-demand dynamics, freight, vessel movements, and import/export activities.
- Collaborate with suppliers, customers, logistics firms, inspection agencies, finance, and operations to guarantee seamless trade execution.
- Assess commercial, operational, credit, and counterparty risks linked to each deal.
- Assist with payment collection, documentation, product quality monitoring, and fulfillment of contract terms.
- Provide management with timely updates on market conditions, price insights, and potential business opportunities.
Candidate Profile
- At least 5 years' experience in trading base oils, lubricants raw materials, or related petroleum products.
- Established and robust network among base oil suppliers, traders, blenders, distributors, and buyers.
- Proven success in generating profitable trading ventures.
- Comprehensive knowledge of base oil categories, pricing models, international trade regulations, shipping logistics, documentation, and payment systems.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical thinking, communication, and relationship management abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related discipline.
Preferred Experience
- Hands-on experience trading Base Oils in Group I, Group II, Group III, and Bright Stock classifications.
- Over 5 years' total experience in commodity markets.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in international trade and business development.
