Description de l'emploi

About Halter

Halter is dedicated to empowering farmers and graziers to operate more productively and sustainably. Our innovative solutions help customers move beyond time-consuming traditional methods. Imagine directing a herd of 500 cattle to calmly walk to their next feed break without the need for quad bikes, dogs, or fences — just the cattle moving at their own pace. Our mission is to revolutionize grazing, making a meaningful impact on lives and transforming the industry. At Halter, you will tackle compelling challenges within a talented, high-performance team committed to delivering substantive change in agriculture.

We are supported by top-tier investors including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, BOND, DCVC, Blackbird, Promus Ventures, Rocket Lab’s Peter Beck, and Icehouse ventures.

Role Overview

As a Drone Mapping Specialist, your primary responsibility is to gather precise aerial imagery over dairy farms, a critical part in setting farms up effectively for Halter’s solutions. The accurate imagery collected underpins paddock mapping, deployment planning, and ensures seamless farmer experiences from the outset.

This position demands hands-on, fieldwork involving travel across your region to visit dairy farms, operate drones to capture quality aerial images, coordinate with farmers, and ensure mapping is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Halter’s standards.

We have two full-time openings: one covering the North Island and another for the South Island. Candidates can be based anywhere but must be willing to travel extensively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Travel regionally to dairy farms to perform drone-based aerial mapping.
  • Manage scheduling of farm visits by balancing weather conditions, farmer availability, travel distances, and project priorities.
  • Engage with farmers to confirm visit arrangements, clarify access needs, and outline on-site activities.
  • Capture consistent, clear aerial images usable for creating orthomaps essential for paddock delineation and farm setup.
  • Accurately upload, log, and verify collected mapping data after each visit.
  • Maintain a professional representation of Halter when working on customer farms.
  • Participate in farm-related tasks as required occasionally.

Candidate Profile

  • Excellent communicator able to quickly establish trust and rapport with farmers.
  • Strong organizational skills to independently plan and coordinate multiple farm visits across a broad area.
  • Dependable with a solid work ethic, consistently fulfilling commitments and advancing deployment progress.
  • Capability to operate autonomously after training while maintaining communication with the broader team.
  • Exceptional attention to detail in capturing and verifying mapping data entries.
  • Practical and adaptive problem solver dealing with changes caused by weather, access, equipment, or farm conditions.
  • Valid full, clean driver’s license.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently, including overnight stays 2 to 3 nights per week.

Working Environment and Culture

Our ideal team members are organized, dependable, confident in engaging with farmers, and comfortable working independently. Success in this fast-paced deployment role hinges on managing time effectively, communicating clearly, and completing tasks reliably.

Halter values diversity and inclusion, fostering a workplace where everyone can be themselves and thrive. We encourage applicants who may not meet every listed qualification but share our commitment and enthusiasm to apply for this opportunity.

Why Halter?

  • Engage in meaningful work that profoundly impacts the agricultural industry and helps farmers enhance their livelihood and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with a talented, diverse team tackling complex challenges in a culture built on mutual respect, support, and high standards.
  • Benefit from autonomy and continuous professional development, including a $1,000 personal growth fund to support your skill mastery and learning.
  • Join a dynamic and exhilarating workplace that blends fast-paced innovation with rewarding challenges, contributing to significant industry transformation.
