Position Summary
The EHR Chart Correction Specialist plays a vital role in reviewing and amending electronic health record (EHR) information to uphold accuracy, maintain data integrity, and comply with healthcare laws and standards. Ensuring high quality and trustworthy patient data across the healthcare system is a primary responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage professionally with colleagues, visitors, and staff adhering to organizational values.
- Assess and process chart correction requests from clinical and administrative personnel as well as patient-submitted amendment requests.
- Detect, analyze, and correct errors in EHR documentation such as improperly filed information, record duplications, and inaccurate patient demographic details.
- Focus on resolving complex and critical errors impacting patient safety, care, or reimbursement to reduce risks and ensure solutions.
- Coordinate with physicians, nurses, and clinical teams to confirm and validate corrections to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Work collaboratively with registration, IT, and clinical departments to address chart correction challenges.
- Ensure all changes strictly comply with HIPAA regulations, organizational policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven computer proficiency combined with strong analytical thinking and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to make informed decisions based on thorough research and data evaluation.
- Capability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Educational requirement includes a High School Diploma or GED; an Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management (HIM) is preferred.
- Prior experience in Health Information Management or related healthcare roles such as patient registration, unit clerk, or nursing is needed.

- Standard daytime shifts within the United States.
- Regular full-time employment at Thomas Jefferson University location: 111 S 11th Street, Philadelphia, PA.
