Job Overview
The Electrical Technician will manage scheduling and performing maintenance on instrumentation and electrical control systems, conduct in-house calibration of instruments, diagnose issues on filling lines, and provide maintenance support for production processes including filling and blending.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental procedures during maintenance tasks.
- Maintain legal compliance in maintenance activities, contractor oversight, and documentation management.
- Plan and execute preventive maintenance of instruments for optimal reliability and accuracy, completing monthly schedules with minimal downtime.
- Utilize predictive maintenance techniques such as vibration analysis and thermography.
- Troubleshoot and resolve critical electrical faults or equipment breakdowns within the plant.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems using test equipment and hand tools to identify and remedy causes of breakdowns.
- Focus on reducing the six major losses and top five causes of downtime to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by enhancing availability and performance.
- Offer technical electrical support during management-assigned projects.
- Initiate improvements to machine control systems to reduce downtime and modify equipment to boost capacity, quality, and safe operation.
- Devise and manage annual calibration plans for plant instruments, maintaining records and audit readiness.
- Inspect electrical systems and components to detect hazards or defects, ensuring code compliance and necessary adjustments or repairs.
- Train production personnel on precise operation of blending and filling machinery.
- Promote sustainable maintenance by optimizing energy consumption, lowering emissions, and supporting ESG compliance reporting.
Mental Demands
The role's main challenge is ensuring continuous equipment availability for production. Critical complexities involve preventing equipment failures despite limited resources and spare parts. Creativity is required to anticipate breakdowns and perform repairs without halting production, including equipment modifications for longevity and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in the field.
