Job Overview

The role of Estimator, based in Mississauga, Ontario, focuses on preparing accurate estimates and takeoffs for building envelope projects primarily in roofing within the Institutional, Commercial, and Industrial (ICI) sectors. This full-time office position involves working with drawings, specifications, quotations, and bond documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare takeoffs and detailed estimates for assigned roofing projects.
• Create and follow up on quotations and tender submissions.
• Download and analyze drawings and specifications.
• Manage ordering of Bid Bonds, Performance Bonds, Agreements to Bonds, tender deposits, Letters of Reference, and CCDC documents.
• Generate work orders and update quotation summaries to track active and completed jobs.
• Assist Production or Service teams with pricing for extras or credits.
• Organize and lead team meetings to review takeoffs across branches.
• Perform area calculations and consult with clients to develop estimates.
• Review data to determine material and labor needs, preparing itemized lists accordingly.

Candidate Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma or certificate in a relevant field such as Construction Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or Architectural Technology.
• Experience estimating building envelope projects in the ICI sector, especially in roofing.
• Competence in reading blueprints, plans, and specifications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and robust computer skills.
• Strong communication abilities, both verbal and written.
• Excellent mathematical skills.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic team setting.
• Highly organized, time-efficient, professional, and self-motivated to learn.
