Fire Fighter

Role overview

Ventia is seeking a Fire Fighter to join the Fire and Rescue team at the Army Aviation Centre in Oakey, Queensland. This is a full-time onsite position working an early/late roster, and it sits within a long-running Defence fire services contract awarded in 2024 for six years, with the possibility of two further two-year extensions.

What the role involves

You will be part of a team responsible for supporting airfield, structural, and bushfire response activities. The work requires you to carry out duties as assigned by the Station and Sub Station Officers while helping keep the station ready for emergency response at all times.

• Keep operational capability at the required level in line with relevant procedures.
• Complete administrative tasks connected to operational duties.
• Follow all workplace health and safety obligations.
• Take part in drills and training to maintain readiness.

Work roster

The successful applicant must be available for an early/late weekday cycle.

• Early shift: Monday to Friday, 0700 to 1400.
• Late shift: Monday to Friday, 1400 to 2330.

Special conditions

To be eligible, you must be able to obtain and keep a Defence Security Clearance up to Negative Vetting 1 (Secret). Because of this, applicants must be Australian citizens, be able to pass an Australian Federal Police check, and successfully complete a CASA Basic Class 2 pre-employment medical.

Qualifications needed

Applicants must provide evidence of the following qualifications with their application, and only complete applications will be considered.

• PUA20622 Certificate II in Public Safety (Firefighting and Emergency Operations)
• PUA30619 Certificate III in Public Safety (Firefighting and Emergency Operations)
• Current HR driver licence
