Role Summary

We are looking for an Intermediate Mechanical Designer to join our Design/CADD department. The role involves assisting in designing mechanical components for water and wastewater treatment systems using Autodesk Inventor 3D drafting software.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead creation of detailed drawings and 3D models including fabrication, assembly, erection, general arrangement, and equipment layout drawings, as well as PFD and P&ID drafting and bill of materials generation.
  • Serve as the design team lead on projects.
  • Work closely with internal teams such as fabrication and sales and external parties including vendors and client engineers to ensure project success.
  • Keep current with industry standards and innovations through training and self-directed learning.
  • Support sales with proposal development and cost estimates.
  • Contribute to enhancement of the Quality Management System through design reviews, feedback, and process improvements.
  • Travel up to 10% primarily across North America to visit project locations, clients, or attend trade shows.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior design staff.

Requirements

  • Technical degree or diploma including CAD coursework.
  • 5 to 10 years of mechanical design experience involving equipment and packaged systems.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes is a plus.
  • CET registration in British Columbia or Alberta considered an advantage.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and structural engineering basics beneficial.
  • Proficient in Autodesk Inventor 3D and AutoCAD drafting tools.
  • Experience in water and wastewater treatment design is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborative work.
