Role Overview

The Lean Systems Coach plays a pivotal role in advancing the Lucid Production System (LPS) by championing lean manufacturing efforts organization-wide. Reporting directly to the Lean Systems Manager, this role requires a proactive, hands-on approach on the shop floor to cultivate a robust lean culture that drives continuous enhancements in safety, quality, cost efficiency, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure consistent adoption and execution of Lucid Production System principles across all operational sectors.
  • Boost employee participation in all LPS initiatives, fostering engagement and ownership.
  • Identify and remove obstacles hindering continuous improvement efforts.
  • Deliver training and coaching on lean methodologies across all functions and organizational levels.
  • Facilitate LPS program review meetings and lead insightful discussions.
  • Conduct layered audits and reviews of processes to ensure compliance and identify improvement areas.
  • Lead and support Gemba walks within departments to assess work processes firsthand.
  • Analyze performance data to pinpoint opportunities for reducing costs and enhancing productivity, utilization, and quality.
  • Support manufacturing initiatives driving achievement of factory-wide performance objectives.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain lean tools, systems, and procedures focusing on problem-solving, performance management, 6S (including safety), standardization, and continuous improvement.
  • Organize and lead Kaizen workshops involving cross-functional teams to realize ongoing process enhancements.
  • Leverage Business Process Automation tools to monitor operational performance effectively.
  • Manage work instruction software, ensuring standards compliance and authoring or controlling necessary changes.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in an automotive OEM environment.
  • Background in continuous improvement within automotive manufacturing; prior lean-related roles highly desirable.
  • Deep knowledge of manufacturing principles, with both theoretical understanding and practical application.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication capabilities coupled with strong motivation.
  • Expertise in mentoring and coaching colleagues through hands-on skill application.
  • Ability to influence and lead teams without direct authority.
  • Familiarity with production processes, cost management, quality control, and logistics.
  • Understanding of TPM, Autonomous Maintenance, Preventive Maintenance, or related maintenance strategies.
  • Capability in facilitating Kaizen events.
  • Strong problem-solving skills including proficiency with 8D methodology.
  • Competence in lean tools and techniques such as time studies, data and capacity analysis, and work instruction development.
  • Proficient in developing presentations and using Microsoft Office software suite.
  • Application of industrial engineering methods pertinent to production efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Industrial, Mechanical, or Production Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a relevant capacity.
