Position Summary
We are hiring an experienced Litigation Paralegal with a minimum preferred experience of three years handling both civil/business litigation and criminal law matters. This full-time, on-location position is based in Farmington Hills, MI. The Litigation Paralegal will assist attorneys throughout all litigation stages by organizing case materials, overseeing deadlines, and facilitating communications among clients, courts, and opposing counsel.
Primary Responsibilities
- Draft, proofread, and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other legal documents for civil and criminal cases.
- Perform legal research; summarize applicable case law, statutes, and regulations.
- Organize and maintain case files, exhibits, and discovery evidence in both digital and physical formats.
- Prepare trial materials such as binders, exhibit lists, and witness documents.
- Coordinate scheduling of depositions, hearings, and trials.
- Communicate professionally with clients, witnesses, judicial bodies, and opposing counsel.
- Manage electronic filing and track court deadlines.
- Support attorneys with case strategies by monitoring deadlines, evidence, and case progress.
- Conduct factual investigations and aid with witness and client interviews.
- Preserve confidentiality and uphold ethical standards firmly.
Qualifications
- At least three years of paralegal experience in civil/business litigation and criminal cases preferred.
- Paralegal certification or degree from an ABA-approved program or equivalent education and experience combination.
- In-depth knowledge of court rules, filing procedures, and litigation timelines.
- Proficiency with legal research tools such as Lexis and electronic filing systems.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication capabilities.
- Outstanding organizational abilities to handle substantial caseloads.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office and case management applications.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
- High professionalism, discretion, and keen attention to detail.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in trial preparation.
- Knowledge of e-discovery technologies.
- Certification as a Notary Public is a plus.
