About the Role
Join the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business of Queensland Government as the Manager for Workforce Strategy. This role is instrumental in crafting the future workforce by leading strategic workforce planning and capability development. The position involves managing significant programs that deliver impactful and practical workforce solutions aligned with departmental goals and public sector directives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the creation and execution of workforce strategies, capability frameworks, and talent programs addressing both current and future organisational requirements.
- Offer evidence-based guidance and strategic recommendations on workforce capabilities and talent priorities to senior leadership.
- Supervise the planning, implementation, and assessment of initiatives such as onboarding processes, succession planning, mobility schemes, graduate programs, and targeted learning opportunities.
- Ensure successful delivery of multiple workforce projects within designated scope, budget limits, and deadlines.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to develop and embed workforce solutions aligned with the department’s strategic objectives.
- Continuously monitor and refine workforce initiatives, identifying enhancement opportunities to align with organisational ambitions.
- Develop and sustain strong partnerships both internally and externally to aid effective workforce strategy execution.
- Produce comprehensive reports, briefing notes, and submissions to support informed decision-making regarding workforce capabilities and talent management.
Candidate Profile
- Proven expertise in designing and guiding workforce strategies and capability programs within a complex, diverse organisational environment.
- Strong leadership skills managing a small team, promoting a results-oriented culture by mentoring, supporting, and enabling team autonomy and problem-solving.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate robust relationships across departmental and public sector stakeholders, providing strategic and pragmatic advice to senior management and staff.
- Ability to understand, interpret, and apply relevant policies and practices, exercising sound judgement in workforce strategic decisions.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, balancing priorities and resources effectively to align with departmental goals.
