Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Overview

A leading Irish manufacturing company based in County Galway is seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to become part of their expanding engineering division. This role offers a chance to engage in an innovative research and development setting, contributing directly to the design and evolution of new products from concept all the way through to production.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and advance new products within a dynamic R&D team environment.
• Generate detailed 3D CAD models along with precise manufacturing drawings.
• Construct prototypes and execute testing in both laboratory and field settings.
• Examine the outcomes of tests and compile comprehensive technical reports.
• Collaborate closely with electrical and software engineers to incorporate control systems efficiently.
• Drive the entire mechanical design lifecycle, starting from conceptualization to final manufacturing.
• Engage in design reviews and contribute to ongoing improvement projects.
• Oversee project schedules and sustain engineering records compliant with ISO 9001 quality standards.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Hold at least three years of prior experience in mechanical design or product development activities.
• Demonstrate proficient skills in 3D CAD software such as Creo, SolidWorks, or equivalents.
• Have a sound knowledge of Design for Manufacture principles.
• Experience in conducting root cause analysis and applying structured problem-solving techniques.
• Strong communication capabilities and aptitude for teamwork within interdisciplinary engineering groups.
