About the Role
Pfizer is seeking a Mechanical Technician to support manufacturing, maintenance, and reliability activities that help ensure medicines are produced and delivered on time. In this role, you will contribute to engineering work that keeps equipment and facilities running safely and efficiently while supporting both production and plant utilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Own your part of the team’s deliverables, represent the workgroup in department-level discussions, and help maintain a constructive team culture.
- Plan your workload, manage your professional development, and help junior colleagues organize their tasks effectively.
- Carry out assigned work using established procedures, look for ways to improve processes, troubleshoot issues, and guide or train team members when needed.
- Share expertise across teams, solve unusual problems proactively, and make practical decisions based on the situation at hand.
- Work with limited supervision on routine tasks, while escalating new or uncommon issues to a supervisor.
- Ensure any non-standard work is checked for sound technical judgment and remain accountable to Pfizer’s standards, policies, and values while supporting the training of others.
- Follow safety rules, job safety analysis requirements, safe work permits, and plant safety programs at all times.
- Coordinate maintenance and project work with production teams to reduce downtime and understand core shop safety practices.
- Make sure utility-related activities follow SOPs, cGMP, and other regulatory expectations, and interpret schematics, blueprints, and engineering drawings accurately.
- Calibrate production and facility equipment, use electrical test equipment safely, diagnose and fix equipment issues, instruct other technicians, and support the design and installation of electrical sensors or control systems.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 4 years of relevant experience.
- Certification in the assigned discipline, where applicable.
- Coursework in electromechanical technology, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Good grasp of basic mathematics and common trades such as construction, electrical work, and machine shop practices.
- Ability to perform maintenance across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated systems.
- Comfort using computers and related tools.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience in pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical environments.
- Working knowledge of cGMP operations.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.
- Good organizational habits and strong attention to detail.
- Basic familiarity with common AI tools and interest in using them to improve productivity.
