About the Role

The R&D Model Maker plays a critical part in product development and ongoing product support, working closely with engineers and other team members to meet project objectives. A significant aspect of this position involves machining parts, sometimes without detailed drawings, where the Model Maker also contributes to technical specifications and design processes for new products within a collaborative environment. Responsibilities include development and refinement of prototype mechanisms.   • Assist in troubleshooting and improving prototype functionality and product issues.
  • Provide ongoing manufacturing support for existing product lines.
  • Engage in cost reduction initiatives via value engineering on both new and existing products.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and promote safe work practices throughout all tasks.
  • Maintain work environments to predefined standards as set by environmental engineering parameters.
  • Keep workspaces, tools, and equipment clean and orderly at all times.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Completion of Trade or Technical School diploma focused on machinery operation.

  • Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Experience with CAD software; preference given to SolidWorks 3D.
