Python Developer - Remote Contract

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Python Developer to join our remote team on a contract basis. This position involves contributing your backend development expertise to help train cutting-edge AI systems by delivering high-quality, real-world inputs that enhance model learning and reasoning. Prior AI experience is not essential; your domain knowledge as a backend Python developer is the key asset.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, develop, and optimize scalable REST and GraphQL API endpoints.
• Implement robust backend data validation, error handling strategies, and adhere to API security best practices.
• Plan and carry out database migrations, performance tuning, and schema modifications as required.
• Conduct active testing of new AI-driven models within the Cursor environment and provide detailed feedback through incident reports, bug tracing, and screenshots.
• Engage in focused, 4-day intense testing sessions that assess the impact of AI models on real software development workflows.
• Collaborate regularly with the research team via a dedicated Slack channel to discuss observations and suggest potential improvements.
• Complete comprehensive post-testing surveys that share insights on AI model performance and developer experience.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of three years of professional backend development experience specializing in Python.
• Proficient in designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Deep knowledge of backend mechanisms concerning data validation, error processing, and security principles.
• Practical experience managing database migrations, optimizing performance, and designing database schemas.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools is highly advantageous, especially with Cursor.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the capability to create clear incident and bug reports.
• Able to excel in dynamic, confidential, and collaborative remote work environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated contributions to relevant open-source projects (e.g., GitHub repositories with stars or active involvement).
• Experience in designing or assessing innovative tools and developer workflows.
• A strong interest and enthusiasm for advancing AI in software development.
