About FAR.AI
FAR.AI is a non-profit research institute focused on artificial intelligence safety, aiming to ensure that advanced AI technologies serve everyone positively. Established in July 2022, the organization has rapidly expanded to over 40 staff members, releasing more than 30 notable academic publications and hosting leading AI safety events globally. FAR.AI collaborates with model developers and government bodies to improve AI safety, notably identifying critical issues in newly released AI models and partnering with leading organizations to enhance safety measures. The institute also runs FAR.Labs, a co-working space for AI safety researchers in Berkeley, and provides targeted research grants.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Recruiting Coordinator to facilitate smooth recruitment and onboarding processes for new hires. This role involves managing all operational aspects such as interview scheduling, process automation, equipment procurement, and onsite visit coordination. It is well-suited for individuals with early experience in recruiting or people operations who possess strong organizational skills and a proactive approach, committed to delivering a positive candidate and employee experience within a mission-driven, research-oriented environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage comprehensive recruiting operations including job postings, Ashby system setup and automation, scheduling interviews and assessments, coordinating work trials, and managing onsite logistics.
- Oversee contracting procedures related to work trials, coordinating internally and with external parties.
- Coordinate new hire onboarding tasks such as scheduling orientation sessions, arranging equipment delivery, preparing new hire informational materials, establishing Slack channels, and liaising with hiring managers and onboarding buddies.
- Continuously update and enhance recruiting and onboarding templates, toolkits, and procedural documentation to improve efficiency.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a detail-focused and self-driven professional in recruiting or people operations who thrives in managing complex workflows with precision and ownership. They demonstrate strong communication skills, an ability to balance multiple responsibilities without supervision, and an empathetic approach to interaction with candidates and new employees.
Required Experience
- Between 1 and 3 years in recruiting or people coordination roles.
- Proficiency with Ashby software, including setting up requisitions, managing workflows, and automation configurations.
- Excellent calendar and schedule management skills, adept at coordinating across different time zones and stakeholders.
- High attention to detail and ability to foresee and prevent potential issues.
- Strong written communication skills, comfortable interacting with candidates, new hires, and internal teams.
- Capability to handle multiple simultaneous projects with minimal oversight.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in a startup or other fast-paced environments.
- Involvement in onboarding programs or logistics management, such as equipment procurement and swag distribution.
Additional Information
- Employment Type: Full-time with FAR.AI, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
- Location: Primarily onsite in Berkeley, California (preferred), with options for remote work within the US.
- Working Hours: 40 hours per week.
- Compensation: Salary range from $80,000 to $100,000 annually, dependent on experience and location, with possible adjustments up to $125,000. Work-related travel and equipment expenses are covered. Onsite employees also receive catered lunch and dinner.
- Recruitment Process: Includes a short task test, an interview with the hiring manager, and a work trial period.
